Surcharges from the sale of the coin were directed to the Korean War Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., dedicated four years later in July 1995. The proof was struck at Philadelphia and bears the P mintmark; the design pairs John Mercanti, the Mint’s tenth chief engraver — best known for the American Silver Eagle reverse — with T.
