Obverse: Ear of wheat on a stem with two asymmetrical leaves, topped by five barbs. Cursive legend RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE.

Reverse: 1 CENTIME in cursive lettering, date 2001. Privy marks placed along the rim.

Context: Last gold issue of the French franc, struck only in 2000 and 2001. The striking was interrupted before reaching the authorised mintage. Never circulated, delivered in its original case with certificate of authenticity.
